iiNet taps on television network experiences in file sharing battle

IiNet has drawn on Nine Network’s 2004 court battle with Channel Ten over clips broadcast on The Panel as part of its bid to fend a Hollywood-backed copyright lawsuit in the NSW Federal Court.
The studios sued iiNet for copyright infringement after investigating its customers’ use of BitTorrent to share music and move files based on its argument that it authorised the activity by refusing to take “reasonable steps” to stop the activity.
