Mixed message on cancer from mobile phone use

An international study set up to answer the long-running question of whether mobile phones increase cancer rates is unlikely to give the all-clear for people who have been using phones for longer than 10 years.

A radiation expert said yesterday that while the World Health Organisation’s Interphone study was expected to find no evidence of harm for people who had used a mobile phone for less than 10 years, longer-term use was harder to assess.
