Thailand Will Create ‘Level’ Field for Telecoms, Abhisit Says

Thailand’s government will present a plan in two months to “create a level playing field” for telecom companies that includes possible compensation for changes to concessions, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said.
Prosecutors will make a decision at that time whether to seek damages over royalty payments to state-run TOT Plc from Advanced Info Service Pcl, Thailand’s biggest mobile-phone company that was owned by fugitive former leader Thaksin Shinawatra. A court ruled last month that Thaksin abused his power to benefit the company at TOT’s expense.
