Data hunger boosts Thai telecom services

Although the political turmoil of recent weeks will inflict heavy losses on many businesses, telecom companies have seen a windfall from massive demand for data services, especially social networking such as Facebook and Twitter.
Advanced Info Service has gained from higher demand for non-voice or data service during the protests, with subscribers now topping 1.5 million, said chief executive Wichian Mektrakarn.
